ExtendSim

In this case, the LIX files are used for ExtendSim, a program used for simulation of real processes.

ExtendSim is a simulation program for modeling discrete, continuous, agent-based, discrete-rate, and mixed-mode processes.

There are three ExtendSim packages:

CP, for continuous processes.
DE, which adds discrete event technology
Pro, which adds discrete rate and reliability block diagram modules.

The LIX file saves the basic configuration of the simulations, in order to test if the process would work or not, and if it should be used in real practice.
